Locally, the East Bay Regional Park District's Lone Tree Point provides a beautiful setting for a picnic by the bay. Hikers and bikers enjoy Rodeo Creek Trail, stretching 3 miles from Highway 4 to the bay. Organized recreational activities are centered around the Lefty Gomez Historical Ballfield and the Boy's and Girl's Club. The Elks, Lions Knights of Columbus and other service clubs also active in local recreational and community service activities.
San Francisco, with its endless cultural opportunities, is just across the bay. Theater, restaurants, art galleries, museums, symphonies, and concerts are just the tip of the iceberg for your discovery. To the north there is wine tasting in the world-famous Napa Valley region. Hikers, bikers and nature lovers enjoy an abundance of parks in central and eastern Contra Costa County, including Mount Diablo State Park, Black Diamond Mines, Big Break Wetlands Area, Contra Loma Regional Parks, and the DeAnza Recreational Trail System, to name a few. Water lovers will find plenty to explore on the bay or in the 1,000 miles of California's San Joaquin Delta nearby.
Rodeo is a quiet residential community which boasts a good selection of homes from unique 1930's bungalows to more contemporary dwellings - many with bay views. The Viewpoint subdivision, which was built in the 1970's, offers traditional single family housing stock. New construction projects includes the development of 50 units of affordable rental housing for seniors as well as the construction of 58 single family homes off of Willow Avenue, both situated near Rodeo's gateway.

Rodeo is served by the John Swett Unified School District, which provides public schools for Rodeo and the City of Crockett. The school district serves 2,245 students. They continue their education at Carquinez Middle School and John Swett High School in Crockett, which has been designated a California Distinguished School. There are also a number of excellent private schools in the area.
The huge Bay Area population supports a diverse selection of public and private colleges. There are seven four-year schools and six two-year colleges located near Rodeo. Contra Costa College, in San Pablo, and Diablo Valley College in Concord are both part of the California Community College system. They offer lower division transfer courses and vocational training for a minimal cost. Evening, weekend, and short-term courses are some of the options available to busy students. California State University, Hayward offers upper division and graduate courses for working adults at its Contra Costa Campus in Concord, just 15 miles from Rodeo. UC Berkeley, just 14 miles south, is a world-renowned institution offering undergraduate and graduate studies up to the doctoral level. UC Davis is within a one hour drive of Rodeo.
